General Lee replica #24 - Aug 2018

It's time for another General Lee replica - this one is #24.  The donor car for this General Lee had been sitting is a salvage yard for over 25 years - it was mostly intact, originally green with tan interior and 318/automatic.  Of course it will end up orange with tan interior and a 500 cubic inch big block!!!

Here's how it looked after saving it from sitting in the Oklahoma sun for 25 years - pretty beat up, had been wrecked way back when - so it's going to get a lot of new panels...

Time to tear it down...

On the rotisserie to cut out the floors and add subframe connectors..

Doesn't look like much on the outside, but this 440 was stroked to 500 cubic inches, has 10.5:1 compression, aluminum Stealth heads, and will be dressed and set to kill when it's finished...

Lots of new metal going in - floors, truck, dutchman, quarters, etc, etc...

Bodywork started on hood, doors, and fenders...

All metalwork is done, 4-point roll-bar added to increase body rigidity, all suspension put back on (front gets new disc brakes), and it's back on the ground and headed to bodyshop...

Getting straight...

Hemi Orange paint !!!  We painted the bottom of the car with matching orange bedliner to keep it looking nice and resist chips and scratches...

Assembly time!!  Car is painted, panels hung and engine/trans in place...

Lots of parts going in place...

Exhaust is complete, interior coming together, front end assembled, and decals are on - it's officially a General Lee...

Finished and out tearing up the back roads again...
