1959 Chevy Apache - Nov 2016

This 1959 Chevrolet Apache is a pretty rare truck.  Most of the 59 models were short step side trucks, and the fleetside model was the first of it's kind; and it was LONG.  Unfortunately this truck did not have a bed when it arrived, but it had been chopped and lowered by another shop, then left to languish in a garage before the current owner grabbed it up and brought it to us to finish.

Here's how we got it, cab and fronted mostly intact, engine/trans/driveline in place; brakes done, no interior really, and no bed!!!

The biggest chore was finding a replacement fleetside bed.  Luckily we ran across someone who knew where one was sitting, having been turned into a truck-bed trailer long ago, filled with construction leftovers and parked in an alley.  After some courthouse records and Facebook tracking, the owner was found and the trailer was purchased - basically for the bedsides because they aren't reproduced and they are RARE!  Straighted and painted to match, mated to a new tailgate and header panel, then a custom wood floor and roll pan, it's looking like a truck again...

All the mechanicals were worked out, a custom interior was put together, some AC and stereo components added, and this truck is about ready to roll.  Now it's off to the glass shop for some custom cut glass (the top was chopped 5 inches by previous owner)...

Back from getting new door and windshield made, it also gets a custom gauge panel and gauges because the originals just weren't looking good...
