1972 Cheyenne Super - April 2014

This truck belonged to the owner's grandfather, so it's seen a lot of miles, a lot of use, and lately a lot of time in a storage facility. Pulled out covered in dust, mostly disassembled, this truck was ready for a complete makeover - down to the frame!!

Here's what we started with...

Time to tear it apart as far as possible.  This long bed will become a short bed, so 20 inches has to be removed from the frame: 8 from the rear and 12 from under the cab.

Now the frame will get completely cleaned, coated in a rust converter coating, then a gloss black topcoat...

The cab floor was rust free!!! Just some cleaning and a coat of rust converter just for prevention. The cowl area was stripped, unnecessary holes were welded up, and a block-off plate was welded over the old AC/heater hole - making way for Vintage Air.  Cab goes back on frame, and over to the body shop...

A 69 Chevelle fuel tank (fitted with in-tank fuel pump for the fuel injection system) is mounted in the rear so the filler will be behind the license plate.  Engine is being mocked up too.

Back from paint and beginning assembly...

A custom flush-mount bed cover is being designed...

Finished!!! The exterior is a custom copper color with factory Frost white stripe. To keep a somewhat "stock" look, the factory style Rallye wheels were retained. All new trim, grill, LED lighting - pretty much everything you see is new. Body dropped 4" rear, 2" front for a very nice and comfortable stance.
