1969 Dodge Charger Restomod - June 2013

This 69 Charger was brought in under it's own power, almost. It barely ran, which we would discover later was due to a worn down cam and bent pushrod, mismatched heads, and 4 undersized pistons - but was it mostly complete. The owners wanted to return it to mostly stock - F8 Green with green interior. Rebuilt 383, alumimum heads, fuel injection, and some nice wheels and air conditioning.

A couple of days tearing it down, followed by a week of scraping and powerwashing, gave us a good shell to begin metal repair and media blasting.

First order of business was removing the entire trunk pan, cleaning the framerails, and installing a new trunk pan and extensions. The car also got a new driver side quarterpanel skin, passenger side quarter panel patch, and new rear valance. All the unnecessary AC holes in the firewall were welded up and will be smoothed over for a clean look. The typical rust around the rear windows was repaired and this car is now rust free. Subframe connectors were welded in, and then the entire underside of the car was sprayed in 3M undercoating.

Reassembled with all new suspension (painted up nice and shiny black) and 4 wheel disc brakes. Now it's off to the bodyshop...

Back from paint and ready for reassembly...

The 383 was rebuilt with new aluminum heads, intake, and a FAST fuel injection system.

The interior gets all new digs - starting with new carpet and dash pad & bezels. Note the custom AC control pod and aftermarket stereo install...

Rebuilt 383 with Stealth aluminum heads, FAST fuel injection, Weiand intake, ceramic coated headers into dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Mopar Performance valve covers with custom matching air cleaner.

The trunk was not ignored. After mounting the twin 6x9 speakers in the package tray, wiring them to a 200 Watt amp, and adding a 10" subwoofer with it's own built-in amp, the trunk was fully carpeted.

The exterior was covered in F8 Dark Green Metallic with a satin tail stripe, all the trim was polished to a shine, Billet Specialties wheels 17x7 front and 17x8.5 rear wrapped in BFG rubber, and a killer stance make this car a standout in any crowd.
