1971 Dodge D100 - May 2011

This D-100 has been in the owner's family for a long time, so instead of buying a new truck, we are modernizing this one. We are leaving the exterior alone, but other plans include rebuilding the original 318 with fuel injection; updating the air conditioning system, cleaning up the interior with colors, carpet, seat and paint; adding front disc brakes, and a few other nice touches here and there. The engine bay will see a total makeover with new paint, coated headers, detailed engine, and upgraded wiring.

It was a good running truck, just showing it's age - and grease - pretty bad.  Here's what we started with...

Only real rust was in the floorpans, covered with some aluminum riveted in place.  All that was cut out, new metal welded in, coated with POR-15 and Dynamat...

Engine and trans were removed for a rebuild, then engine bay was repainted and detailed...

The original 318 was rebuilt to mostly stock specs.  Everything under the hood was detailed to the max - ceramic coated headers, polished valve covers, engine block painted to match body color, etc, etc. The old 4-barrel carb was ditched in favor of a new FAST EZ-EFI fuel injection setup - now this thing starts and runs great!!

The interior received new padding, carpet, reupholstered seats and doorpanels, new sunvisors, headliner, and recovered dashpad - along with a new coat of blue paint on all the metal surfaces.  An original fuel tank was located and put back in place behind the seat where it came from the factory (it had been moved to under the bed).
