1956 Chevy 210 Rat-Rod - Jan 2009

This 56 210 is complete - right down to the original dealer sales contract that was found in the glove box.  It's been sitting outside in a field for at least 20 years so all four wheels were rusted solid.  We are the second owners!!

Its original engine was locked up, so a new stroker 383 small block and 350 hydromatic trans were dropped in.  The rearend contains 4:11 gears for tons of torque. The stock front drum brakes have been swapped over to disc with a 2 inch dropped front spindles, new power brake booster and master cylinder.  Floor pans were repaired, as well as the minimal exterior rust (over headlights and lower front fenders - really, that's all there was).   The interior received front buckets from a Firebird, original rear bench, and 3-point seatbelts.  Dash stayed stock, including the factory radio delete plate, but extra gauges below the dash and a tach on top of the steering column were added for engine monitoring.

The intent was to make a Rat-Rod style 56, so minimal exterior work, keeping it simple, and shooting for a plain but functional street racer that could be driven every day with total reliablity. Minimal chrome, and minimal cleaning were called for to keep the strength of this beast hidden - no show car posing! Painted Hot Rod Flat Black, with period style chrome slotted mags, and all the original stainless trim (minus the hood ornament), this car tears up the streets, and looks decent doing it.
