"Gone in 60 Seconds" Eleanor replica

This Mustang rolled into the shop as a stock body, just wanting to get the front end updated to a coil-over type suspension. No problem, quick and easy - Yea right! It steamrolled into a major job that included both front and rear suspension, new quarterpanels, moving the fuel filler to the quarterpanel, mocking up all the body panels and fiberglass, smoothing the engine bay, building a rollbar and frame connectors, building rear brake cooling ducts, and designing a custom exhaust and exhaust tips. But again, no problem...

After the bolt in TCI frontend was installed, the owner decided to go full-on and replace the rusty quarterpanels, fix the rusted floors, and make a few other modifications..

The bottom of the car received custom frame connectors, welded in of course, and a custom made exhaust system...

The engine bay was full of holes, both factory and not, and needed smoothing up...

The fiberglass on these cars is EXTENSIVE...

The side cooling ducts are usually fake, but not on this car. The rollbar was made to tuck up tight and hide behind the factory inner panels...

A tilt column was also connected to a new rack and pinion steering system, and a new 9" rearend with a triangulated 4-link and coilovers was hung.

After all was done, it was time to go the the body shop to have all this fiberglass molded in smooth and some nice paint applied.

 Back from paint and time for assembly...

Engine bay bodywork done, floor coated in Por-15...

Headliner and overhead console installed, windshield and back glass done...

Custom Vintage Air AC system installed, hood pins installed, GT500 stripes added...

 Time for POWER in the form of a 351W stroked to 427 CuIn.  Painted factory ford blue with 427 valve covers and a sleek serpentine belt assembly.  Engine is backed by a Tremec Magnum 6-speed (which required the tunnel to be enlarged).  

Trunk enclosures and hidden battery and fuse panel...

Interior coming together...
