General Lee #17 - Sept 2008

General Lee #17

This 1969 Charger is a true numbers-matching 440 RT! It had seen a hard life before it was brought to us, it was already stripped down pretty good but we stripped it down even further and rebuilt it into a screaming machine. Here's a few pictures of what it looked like when we started...

Then it was media blasted to bare metal to get rid of all the rust, and expose all the cancer that needed cutting out.

Lot of new sheetmetal was put in place, including quarterpanels, floors, trunk, tailpanel, cowl, and lots of small patches.

The original 440 big-block was rebuilt with a Mopar purple cam, HP exhaust manifolds, and backed up with a rebuilt 727 transmission.

Paint is done - looking much more orange now; the front suspension gets rebuilt and the engine finds its home...

Lots more assembly - engine accessories, dash, exhaust, trim...

Carpet and roll bar done, fenders and hood attached, just more stuff going on...

Interior is done in Saddle Tan, and trunk is detailed and carpeted as well...

Finished - decals applied that turn this from an orange Charger into the General Lee...
